Mabbett enjoy the Sporting Spirit of the Commonwealth Games

14th August 2014

Situated in the West End of Glasgow, our office is close to the Hydro and on the doorstep of the Commonwealth Lawn Bowls Bowling Green, this gave us the opportunity to truly get into the spirit of the Commonwealth Games, welcoming visitors and enjoying street performers on the journey to work. We also decorated the office with stickers, posters and flags, and every day the office was filled with talk of the Commonwealth Games and sporting banter.

On Friday 27 July 2014, Mabbett truly got into the spirit of the Commonwealth Games, hosting a staff BBQ and our very own Commonwealth Games! Despite varying sporting talent, there was a strong competitive spirit, all staff got involved and either enjoyed the winning applause or laughed with the misery of losing. Not forgetting our local community, we had a Mabbett World Cup Sweepstake, with the winner donating half of the prize money to Glasgow City Mission and the mini sporting competitions raised money for UNICEF, the official Commonwealth Games charity. During 11 days, more than £5million was collectively raised to help children in Scotland and around the Commonwealth following an appeal made during the opening ceremony. If you too would like to make a donation to put children first, text FIRST to 70333 to give £5 or click here.
