Green Light Launched!

30th April 2015

Mabbett are delighted to announce the launch of the Green Light programme. The programme uses expert help, consultancy and training to guide businesses through opportunities to improve resource utilisation (energy, water and waste) to save money and the steps in developing an Environmental Management System (EMS).

Green Light is modelled on the successful Northern Irish BITES (Business Improvements Through Environmental Solutions) programme, which saved 41 companies a total of £446,000 and 750 tonnes of carbon emissions.

Working in partnership with Glasgow Chamber of CommerceResource Efficient Scotland and Scottish Enterprise, we’ve seen an eager response from Glasgow Chamber of Commerce member companies embracing the Green Light programme to save money, manage resources better and gain environmental credibility.

The programme offers businesses many benefits, including;

  • Circa £2,000 worth of funding support.
  • Reduced overheads and cost-savings.
  • Low-cost way of aligning with an EMS Standard.
  • Energy, water, materials and waste minimisation expert help.
  • Improved PQQ and Invitation to Tender scores.
  • Challenge your competitors with tender differentiation and credibility.
  • Access to new clients.
  • Group sessions to share ideas and challenges with other businesses.
  • Obtain an international recognisable ‘green image.’
  • Enhance your Corporate Social Responsibility and PR opportunities.

This first cohort of companies are our ‘Green Pioneers’ – so watch this space for the good news stories.

“Plan Bee Ltd are always keen to enhance a complete circular economy into our integrated sustainability programme within the company and also one that we can share with our partner organisations in order that we all make tangible steps to a greener economy.”  Warren Bader, CEO, Plan Bee Ltd.

“Participation in Green Light Programme has help us to develop cost-effective resource management processes and procedures, meet our legal and regulatory obligations and satisfy customer and stakeholder requirements.”  Joe McAulayGroup Operations Director, Argon Engineering Ltd, Gillrick Metalwork Ltd and Zeus Engineering Ltd.

By July 2015 our ‘Green Pioneers’ will have completed a baseline resource audit, identifying where significant savings could be made and taking action to implement the cost saving opportunities and attended three tailored workshops – designed to help them develop their own Environmental Management System – making cost savings and improved environmental performance a reality!

If you would like to get involved, we have another programme running through the Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce, titled “Green Umbrella” which you’d be very welcome to join.

And on that note, if you’re not a member of either Glasgow or Renfrewshire Chamber, we would highly recommend it, as opportunities such as this regularly come up at little or no cost to you!
