First committee draft of ISO 45001 is published

20th August 2014

The current Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems Standard – OHSAS 18001 – is to be converted to an International Standard – ISO 45001. It is anticipated that ISO 45001 will be published late 2016. The first committee draft of the new ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System Standard is now open for comment until 08 September 2014; the consultation process in the U.K. is being led by BSI, the U.K. National Standards Body. Click here to visit the BSI website to read and comment on the committee draft and the full committee draft can also be purchased from BSI.

The conversion of OHSAS 18001 to an International Standard will bring it into line with the environmental standard, ISO 14001 and quality standard, ISO 9001, which are both currently under going revision, all three ISO standards will then follow a common structure for Management System standards.
