Ending 2019 on a high!

18th December 2019 - Written by Derek J. McNab

As 2019 draws to a close, Managing Director, Derek J. McNab reflects on the last year.

2019 has been an amazing year at Mabbett. Our business has grown by ~30 % allowing us to create new long-term career positions to 17 new talented safety, environment and engineering professionals.  We started the year by adding a new regional office in Middlesbrough to serve our clients in the north-east of England and end it by opening our new Liverpool office to serve our clients in the north-west of England and Wales (more to follow on this in January).  At times it has been very challenging but overall, it’s always been a very rewarding year!

We have continued our journey to deliver our See a Difference message through keeping people safe and protecting the environment.  Our team are encouraged we are doing the rights things through seeing our workload and demand for our services grow, the addition of our firm to multiple master service agreements and Frameworks, and the outreach we are getting internationally having delivered safety, environment and engineering related projects in Norway, USA, Republic of Ireland and Gibraltar.

Our team was humbled to be recognised by others this year.  We were recognised by the Environmental Business Journal for our two business awards for Business Achievement: Small Firms (<$5M) and New Practice Areas (Safety); and through receiving the Export Scottish Business Award at the Causeway, Ireland Scotland Business Exchange Awards 2019.

We are proud of our community engagement initiatives enabling our staff to raise awareness of a myriad of safety, environment and engineering topics to primary school, secondary school and further education students.  Furthermore, we were able to financially support a range of charitable causes during the year (many of whom are close to the hearts of our staff) including: Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity, Huntington’s Disease Association, MND Scotland, Ayrshire Hospice, Pancreatic Cancer UK, Erskine, Revive MS, Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, Urban Uprising, CICRA, Greyhound Awareness League, NASS, Cairneyhill Athletic FC 2009’s and Houston United FC 2008’s.

Christmas Charity Donations 2019

We end 2019 by saying a heartfelt thank you to our staff, clients, business partners and friends of the firm.  Without you all, we wouldn’t be the firm we are.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and wishing everyone a healthy, happy and prosperous 2020!  See you all next year!
