We are seeking to recruit for a new position, a Net Zero Innovation Consultant [Positions: Junior/ Senior/ Principal] to work within our Environment Group. You will ideally be based at our Glasgow office, but location is open for discussion within the UK, including home-working. Ability and willingness to travel is a requirement of this role.

Position Overview and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work in a client-facing role with lead responsibilities for excellent project delivery, valued outcomes and great customer service. Our clients range from industrial manufacturing sites to construction sites to public sector and commercial businesses; projects range from strategic to operational and technical interventions. We regularly collaborate both within and outwith the business as needed for client delivery. We have established networks and partners but you will drive us and our clients to enhance net zero innovation for project delivery. This will be balanced for environmental, social and economically-sustainable growth.

Mabbett technical staff include a wide variety of specialists within whom you will be working – including energy engineering, renewables specialists, carbon specialists, circular economy specialists, planning and development specialists, environmental consultants, soil science, ecologists and landscape architects. The Net Zero Innovation Consultant role will bring together the business opportunities of the net zero challenge, innovating and delivering solutions contributing to meeting net zero 2050 targets.

Experience

The ideal candidate will have experience with regards to two or more of the following areas/disciplines, preferably in a consultancy role including both project scoping/budgeting and delivery:

  • Net zero/ carbon neutral strategy development and writing.
  • Low-carbon and net zero action plan development and delivery (may include software modelling of plans).
  • Net zero innovation (e.g. circular economy/ servitisation / valorisation/ digitalization/ IoT/ low-carbon products etc.).
  • Innovation ideation workshops and training delivery.
  • Supply chain / sustainable procurement support.
  • Carbon footprinting and GRI standards reporting.
  • Collaboration and research towards carbon neutrality/ net zero aims.
  • Built environment, industrial and natural environment net zero projects.
  • Carbon/GHG data analytics and model interpretation.

Desirable project experience areas include (but not limited to):

  • Climate change adaptation
  • Climate change mitigation
  • Eco-design of products/ services
  • Circular economy and resource efficiency.
  • Life cycle analysis.

Skills/Proven Track Record in:

  • Networking, ability to cultivate positive and successful strategic partnerships and collaborations (Senior / Principal level).
  • Organised, logical and structured; attention to detail.
  • Communication and training delivery skills.
  • Business acumen and awareness.

The position may require travel (including occasional overnight stays) throughout Scotland, the U.K. and abroad depending on project requirements. Company pool cars are available for business travel – a valid driving licence is required, valid passport and photo ID is required for air travel. Applicants must be eligible to work in the U.K.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and position requirements.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess an Honours or Masters Degree in Sustainability, Entrepreneurship, Environment, Energy Management, Innovation, Business in the Environment, Engineering or a suitable subject, and have a have a full U.K. driving licence with clean driver record.  Professional chartership(s) would be viewed favourably.
