We are seeking to recruit a Circular Economy (Construction) Consultant [Positions available: Junior/ Senior/ Principal] to work within the Environment Group.

You will primarily work from home (in the UK) in the short term, unless this is unavailable to you. You will be provided with all IT equipment and software/services require to facilitate your efficient home working. Long term arrangements will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate – we are a flexible employer and are willing to consider any arrangement that is desirable to you.

Position Overview and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work in a client-facing role with lead responsibilities for excellent project delivery, valued outcomes and great customer service. Our clients include public sector programmes such as for the Circular Economy Business Support for Zero Waste Scotland, and private sector construction and supply chain businesses. We work in the UK and overseas. We are looking for a candidate with a passion for sustainability and a proven track record (Senior/Principal), to lead and grow our construction circular economy delivery.


The ideal candidate will have experience with regards to two or more of the following areas/disciplines, preferably in a consultancy role including both project scoping/budgeting and delivery:

  • Circular economy ideation – for products/ services in construction industry
  • Sustainable procurement (materials/ products/ services)
  • Circular business model development
  • Carbon impact tool development/ modelling
  • Life cycle assessment for advising on low-carbon/net zero options
  • Workshop design, facilitation and delivery
  • Circular economy implementation support for clients
  • Low-carbon product design
  • International good practice projects

Personal Attributes/Skills

  • Well networked and trusted with a track record in or supporting the construction sector at Senior/Principal level.
  • Ability to build and win successful bids.
  • Up to date knowledge of the sustainability policy environment and how this applies to the construction sector.
  • Solutions-oriented; ability to motivate others to implement solutions and to drive sales and project results.
  • Organised, logical and structured; attention to detail.
  • Communication and training/facilitation skills.
  • Brings numeracy, data analysis/interpretation, business acumen.
  • Creative thinking and ability to identify and drive new business opportunities and projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Professional software packages, including Excel.
  • Language skills (English minimum).

The successful candidate will work within a supportive, friendly and driven team, with access to over 50 professionals in environmental, safety and engineering disciplines. You will be seeking a new challenge, have a passion for sustainability in construction and bring the ability and aptitude to drive successful projects. You’ll relish contributing to group targets for sales and overall team success!

The position may require travel (including occasional overnight stays) throughout Scotland, the U.K. and overseas depending on project requirements. Company pool cars are available for business travel – a valid driving licence is required, valid passport and photo ID is required for air travel. Applicants must be eligible to work in the U.K.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and position requirements.


The ideal candidate will possess an Honours or Masters Degree in Sustainability, Built Environment, Environmental Management, Economics/Business, the physical sciences, or similar, and have a have a full U.K. driving licence with clean driver record.  Professional chartership(s) would be viewed favourably.
