We are recruiting for a Graduate Acoustics Consultant to join our growing air quality and acoustics team, with the potential to base yourself at any of our Scottish offices (Glasgow or Inverness are preferred).

We are a flexible employer and our staff currently operate a hybrid work model, via a combination of home and office working. As we are seeking to recruit an early career (e.g. recent graduate) consultant, we expect the successful candidate to spend a reasonable amount of time in the office to better benefit from more experienced colleagues. The exact approach will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate. You will be provided with IT equipment and software/services as required to facilitate your efficient home working.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess an Honours or Master’s Degree in a relevant field, such as engineering, geography, physics or environmental studies OR display appropriate work experience in environmental assessment.  A diploma or certificate of competence via the Institute of Acoustics (IOA) will be looked on favourably.

Experience

We would be happy to consider newly-qualified applicants or applicants with one to two years’ experience in industry or in a consultancy role.  The ideal candidate should have demonstrable interest in one or more of the following:

  • Environmental assessment and monitoring
  • Environmental noise
  • Air quality
  • Solar development

The successful candidate will ideally:

  • Have a clean U.K. driver’s licence
  • Be able to manage their own workload (with guidance) and communicate effectively with the team
  • Be computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages especially Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Have good written and oral communication skills and be able to use own initiative
  • Be self-motivated
  • Have excellent attention to detail; able to identify obvious errors in typing or data

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work as a member of the Air Quality and Acoustics Team and will be involved in all aspects of professional input to relevant consultancy projects. You will be tasked with delivering high quality technical project work on time and in budget.

Responsibilities will likely include:

  • Environmental noise monitoring (likely to include occasional out of hours working)
  • Solar glint and glare assessment
  • Air quality impact assessment
  • Acoustic impact assessment
  • Any other related duties as and when required.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and position requirements.
